In their own words:

“Our wedding was very personal. Everything was chosen very carefully. We chose the church where my grandparents renewed their vows. Every single décor was hand made by myself. The flowers were arranged by family and friends. Our cake was made by my sister-in-law and anything that required sewing, like my veil and flower girl dresses, were made by my mom. This was ideal because we were able to get everything we wanted, how we wanted it and use it on our special day.

All the waiting and preparations, from the day we got engaged to the day of our wedding, has finally been put in place to create our perfect wedding. Our day has been filled with so much love and support from all our family and friends who came from all over. We have made tons of amazing and unforgettable memories. It was surreal, but a dream come true, to finally see it all unfold.”

In their own words:

“It was between a tiny, intimate ceremony in Paris and a larger wedding in our home of Calgary.  And we’re beyond thrilled with our choice.  We selected the various elements of the day as an expression of us and our respective backgrounds, and to see it all come together and experience the day with our favourite people from all over the world was an absolute dream come true!

We chose Knox United Church for its inclusive ceremony and beautiful accoustics for a trumpet, piper, violinists and organ – and it did not disappoint.  We walked behind our piper down Stephen Ave to our reception at Teatro and although nervous it might be kitchy, it ended up being a highlight that our guests really enjoyed, and it seemed passersby did too!  Our dinner was interspersed with touching words from parents, sisters and friends that had us welling with tears and howling with laughter. To honour Alex’s German roots, we transitioned from dinner to dancing with a lively Oompah band that included lots of “Prost” cheers and an impromptu first waltz to Eidleweiss.  The day felt elegant, relaxed, full of traditions and brimming with joy and love.  Our cups runeth over.”

In their won words:

“Our wedding was an amazing, surreal day. It was full of our favourite people and things. From the traditional yet lighthearted ceremony, to the relaxed family style meal, and the thoughtful and meaningful speeches, the day was almost more than what we could have hoped for. It was wonderful to be surrounded by our closest family and friends, and the joy extended throughout the afternoon of photos and into the evening. Truly a day we’ll never forget!”

In their own words:

“When we first started thinking about our wedding, our priorities were clear – we wanted to have a party with the amazing family and friends we are lucky enough to have.  And that we did! There were sentimental notes, including muted tears during an incredible first look (huge thanks to Scott who had the idea) as the rain started to pour, hiding out with the bridal party amid such torrential rain and a lovely ceremony officiated by Bob Dunne.  But we also had some much lighter (and more typically “us”) notes, such as boxing our way in to the reception to the Rocky theme song, snapping some pics at the squat rack and the end of our dance where the groom flexed in front of the entire room after spinning me in the air.  We could not have asked for a better day!”
