In their own words:
“It was between a tiny, intimate ceremony in Paris and a larger wedding in our home of Calgary. And we’re beyond thrilled with our choice. We selected the various elements of the day as an expression of us and our respective backgrounds, and to see it all come together and experience the day with our favourite people from all over the world was an absolute dream come true!
We chose Knox United Church for its inclusive ceremony and beautiful accoustics for a trumpet, piper, violinists and organ – and it did not disappoint. We walked behind our piper down Stephen Ave to our reception at Teatro and although nervous it might be kitchy, it ended up being a highlight that our guests really enjoyed, and it seemed passersby did too! Our dinner was interspersed with touching words from parents, sisters and friends that had us welling with tears and howling with laughter. To honour Alex’s German roots, we transitioned from dinner to dancing with a lively Oompah band that included lots of “Prost” cheers and an impromptu first waltz to Eidleweiss. The day felt elegant, relaxed, full of traditions and brimming with joy and love. Our cups runeth over.”
